Zimmerman joins Habitat from her previous position of Director of Grants at The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, where she has been employed since 2004. “I am thrilled to be a part of Habitat for Humanity as the next Executive Director,” commented Zimmerman about accepting the position. “I believe wholeheartedly in Habitat’s mission and am excited for the opportunity to continue the great work of the board and staff and to make an impact on the Lawrence community.”
Zimmerman is not an unfamiliar face at Lawrence Habitat. Prior to her hiring, she was a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, along with Chair of the Family Support Committee.
As Executive Director, Zimmerman will continue to provide leadership and support to Lawrence Habitat by achieving and sustaining the long and short term goals of the organization, along with duties that range from budget supervision to recruitment and development of board and committee members.
“I am thrilled to have Erika Zimmerman at the helm of Lawrence Habitat,” said Lindsey Slater, president of the Board of Directors. “She is no stranger to the organization, and with her many years in the non-profit arena, she will be a great advocate for Lawrence Habitat and for affordable housing in our community.”
Zimmerman is a graduate of the University of Kansas, an alumna of the 2010 Leadership Lawrence class, and a member of various local service and networking organizations. Wednesday, September 23rd will be Zimmerman’s first official day serving as Executive Director at Lawrence Habitat.
