Need
Partner families must have a need for adequate shelter. But what exactly does that mean?
Families applying for Habitat homes either lack housing or lives in a home with any of the following characteristics:
- Unsafe structure
- Unsanitary conditions that are not self-imposed
- Unsafe neighborhood environment
- Overcrowded conditions
- Housing costs more than 30% of a family’s gross income
- Inaccessibility
Other inadequacies may qualify families for a Habitat home.
Home visits will determine if a family needs a house from Habitat for Humanity.
